Ann Wood Hand, BHS '65 (1947-2024)

Ann Louise Wood Hand
June 29, 1947 - August 28, 2024

So sorry to hear... I remember Ann from high school as a very fun and friendly gal. May God comfort the family I pray.

"Greetings to all of the friends of my mom Ann. This is her son Matthew Hand writing this post. I just wanted to let everyone know that last night around midnight my mom left this life to transition to more life. We are not sure about next steps with a service at this time, but wanted to let everyone know what was going on. I know that she was deeply loved and appreciate everyone of you that have been a part of her life through the years."

Previous post from Matthew on July 1, 2024: "A little life update, well specifically about my mom. For those of you who may have wondered since October of 2022 my mom Ann has been in a nursing home to get the care she needs. Largely she has done fine in the facility. The journey of dementia continues and fortunately for me she still recognizes me and is jovial and as loving as ever. Unfortunately since the last time I was able to come up and see her as she says “my rememberer isn’t working as well as it used to.” This is indeed true with more of the past slipping away. She is however the same loving and caring individual she has always been treating all of her amazing care givers with love and grace."

Posted today on Facebook by Cathy Nicholls Coyle, BHS '67

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Kathy Walsh Giambra. Kathy’s daughter, Michelle Giambra Cross, posted that her mother had passed away last Tuesday, August 20th. Kathy’s husband, Bob Giambra (BHS ‘62) passed away on June 27th, 2020, and they lost their beautiful daughter, Gina, in 1999. I consider myself blessed to have known such a beautiful & loving family. May God wrap his arms around Michelle & her family & give them peace.

Dona Jean Creswell, BHS '49 (1931-2024)

Dona Jean Creswell
 June 20, 1931 – May 23, 2024

Dona Creswell passed away peacefully at her Assisted Living Facility on May 23, 2024. She would have celebrated her 93d birthday on June 20. She is survived by her brother Jim Creswell, her daughter Debra Petersen, 2 granddaughters, Jenifer and Nicole and 4 great grandchildren Kaley, Kyle, Pearl and Cyril III.

Dona lived a very full life.

In high school she was best friends with Debbie Reynolds, and that friendship continued throughout their adult life.

Dona was a pioneer in the x-ray business in Colorado. In the 1960s she would not take "no" for an answer. She knew that many in Colorado would benefit from portable x-rays. She convinced a radiologist to purchase a portable machine, and she convinced some very prominent radiologists that good x-rays could be taken on a portable machine. Dona served many patients in nursing homes and even those at home who could not get out to get an x-ray.

Dona loved people and she especially loved her family. She traveled with her great granddaughter to cheer leading competitions and cheered the team on to victory. She loved celebrating holidays and birthdays and accepted any other time to celebrate.

She was generous with her time and finances. She volunteered at hospitals and at FISH. She went on many Mission trips which she loved.

In the last 18 months of her life Dona lived in Assisted Living. She made many friends, and brought happiness to many caregivers as well as residents. Dona will be missed by all, we will all miss her happy smile, and contagious laugh. We love you Mom, Sister, Grammy, Mimi and friend.

Jim Jesse Creswell, BHS '48 (1930-2024)

James Jesse Creswell BHS 1948
(March 22, 1930 - August 4, 2024)

Jimmy passed away peacefully at home with his wife, 2 daughters and a granddaughter at his side.  He was 94 years old. He was born in Dalton Nebraska and during the depression, the family moved to Oklahoma to be with more family.  Later moving to California, he and his sister Dona Jean Creswell both attended Burbank high school.  Both Jimmy and Dona became very good friends with Debbie Reynolds, whom they called Franny. He had so many stories. Later he was drafted to the U.S Army to fight in the Korean war.  After he was discharged, Jim went home and married the mother of his 2 daughters. With a divorce some years later, he was then raising his 6 year and 3 year old girls on his own.  And I must say, i think he did a pretty awesome job at it. After the kids grew up, he remarried until his passing 24 days short of his 42nd anniversary. He left behind his wife, 2 daughters, 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

He was laid to rest in Fort Sam Houston Cemetary in San Antonio Texas.  He didn't have many of his friends at his service because he outlived them all, including his younger sister who passed 2 months before him. Jimmy might be gone, but he will be remembered through the family he left behind. Until we see him again in GODs Kingdom.
