Gordon Ray Tarman, BHS '65 (1947-2021)

Gordon Ray Tarman
May 12, 1947 - May 22, 2021

Today received the sad news of Gordon's passing from his son:
"Hello Cathy,
I have been doing a lot of scrapbooking lately - on my dad's early years, and especially school ones. He always talked about the fun he had at Burbank High School - skipping class with his friends Stephen Nogar, David Bramhale, and others to go to Woody's. He passed on May 22, and I thought since coming across the 67 blog it would be awesome if he could be remembered this way and to let his class know. I have included attachments of his obituary, his senior photo, a woodys photo, a Navy photo, and a more current photo.
Thanks so much for your help,
Lawrence. "

Gordon Ray Tarman went to be with the Lord, Saturday, May 22, 2021, at the age of 74.

Gordon was born on Mother’s Day, May 12, 1947, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Hattie Mae (Drew) and Clair Gordon Tarman.

He attended Cargo Handling School and received Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon and Citation, Vietnam Service Medal, and two bronze stars, and a Vietnam campaign medal. Gordon received an honorable discharge in December 1970 after serving at San Diego, California USS Sperry (AS-12).

Gordon worked at U.S. Steel, Gary, Indiana 1971-1979. He graduated as Journeyman Pipe fitter from U.S. Steel Vicing Forman School. He moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1979, and was employed at McDonnell Douglas as a Journeyman Plumber.

August 2008 the Jenks Board of Education hired Gordon. He worked in the maintenance department plumbing until his retirement day of June 27, 2013.

Carol Jane DeHart-King, BHS '69 (1951-2021)

Carol Jane DeHart-King
March 9, 1951 Los Angeles Co, CA - September 14, 2021 San Luis Obispo Co, CA

We are so very sorry to learn that this sweet angel has left us. Carol was a delightful person, full of joy and love who will be greatly missed by many.

Her twin brother, Dave DeHart, posted this heartwarming notice with photos early this morning.

Please keep the family in your hearts and prayers. RIP Carol.

Carol Jane DeHart-King 1951-2021
With great sorrow, I share the passing of my dear twin sister, Carol. The nasty C took an angel, if one believes in earthly ones. All the attributes she possessed during her healthy years, never disappeared during her year long ordeal; serving and caring for others, her selflessness, courage, discipline and kindness all while maintaining her fun sense of humor as she dished out hearty laughs to my silly jokes. She loved people and many loved her in return. She was a loving mother to Eric and Lindsay, and a caring and loving wife to her husband, David King.

Carol dearly loved her brother Dean. She was Auntie Carol, loved by her nieces and nephews who will surely miss her. Carol loved all living creatures, especially her cats and dogs. We send our love and gratitude to Lindsay for all of the tender loving care she delivered to Carol 24/7 and to her husband Greg for his solid support.

To all of Carol’s friends, thank you for your phone calls, visits, concern, kindness, and support. She was so appreciative. Karen has lost a best friend, and I a best twin. Knowing that Carol no longer suffers is the best remedy for our deep pain. She left us all with the best gifts ever, wonderful memories of a beautiful and truly special woman.

Plans are pending to celebrate Carol’s life.
