Donna Lester Roseman, BHS '70 (1952-2018)

Sad new posted on Facebook by Donna's brother, Steve Lester...

Donna Jean Lester died on February 20, 2018 from Heart Failure. She was 65 years of age. She was preceded in death by her Father, Robert, her mother Bettie, her younger brother, William, and her maternal and paternal grandparents. She is survived by her husband, Elmer, her daughter, Mandy, and her husband Michael, and grandsons Ricky and Taylor, and her sister-in-law Diana and husband, and their son Jason, her nephew. Her older brother Steven is the last one of her immediate family to still live. Also surviving Donna were her husband’s relatives, Sandra and Sean with their four children and four grandchildren, and Shelly and Michael and their two children.

She was born on June 3, 1952 in Burbank, California at St. Joseph’s Hospital, the second child of Robert and Bettie and the only girl. She attended Washington Elementary, John Muir Jr. High, and Burbank Senior High Schools and graduated with the class of 1970. She also attended a few courses at Valley Community College of Van Nuys, California. Soon after, she became the mother of Mandy, and worked as a supervisor with the L.A. County welfare department while living in Panorama City, California. In 1989 she married Elmer Roseman and spent 28 happy years as his wife and beloved. At this time, she moved to Palmdale, California and spent the rest of her life within that locale. She and her husband stayed active in the bowling/social community of the area and developed many excellent friendships therein.

A memorial service is planned to take place during the middle of May and details will be announced when known.

Clovis, California

Obituary
Philippians 2:14-16
Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.

Darlene Kay Paul Suhrbier, BHS '89, Passed Away February 1, 2018

Today Amy Monroe‎ posted the following on Facebook. We send our deepest condolences to Darlene's family...

Sadly, BHS Class of 1989 has lost another classmate this year. Darlene Kay Suhrbier (aka Darlene Paul) passed yesterday after heart surgery complications that she'd been battling since November. She leaves behind her husband Steve, her three kids Kirstin, Erika, and Brad, and a cute little grandson, Trace.

I met Darlene when we were at John Muir together. I thought she was so cool with her awesome red hair, not to mention she had Cabbage Patch kids and I didn't. My brothers and I even started taking ceramics classes with Darlene's grandmother on Saturday mornings. In high school, Darlene and I were on Drill Team together. And if blue polyester uniforms with white knee-high go-go boots and blue eye shadow doesn't bond friends, tell me, what does?

When I moved back to L.A. after a 17-year long absence to the east coast, Darlene was one of the first people I reconnected with. And she introduced me to Lemon Drops! She made me feel at home again even though so much time had passed.

Always an outgoing, caring soul, loved by many, Darlene will be missed greatly.

It is so sad to hear this news. I knew Darlene's great-grandmother, Bertha Strickland, from the time I was born, along with her grandparents, Muriel "Chet" and Margaret Lee Chester, and I was at her parent's, Jeff and Sue, wedding in Glendale in 1970. Her uncle and aunt, Bill and Lois Paul, are friends and neighbors of mine, also. When I heard that Darlene has a grandson I realized that I knew his great-great-great-grandmother, making me feel quite old. God bless Darlene's family during this tragic time in their lives. I'm so, so sorry.

For any older alumni seeing this information, Darlene's dad, Jeff Paul, was BHS '64, her uncle, Bill Paul, was BHS '54, and her aunt, Lois Becken Paul, was BHS '55.
