Jean Lofing Martin, BHS '65 (1947-2022)

Jean Elizabeth Lofting Martin
 October 16, 1947 - March 19, 2022

Sadly, we just learned of the passing of Jean. Jean was voted "Most Talented", along with Joey Sinda, in 1965.  She loved drama and singing, and shared the role of Eliza Doolittle with Sharon Williams in the 1965 production of "My Fair Lady". I remember seeing her in My Fair Lady and she had a gorgious voice... so talented! Below is the email sent from Jean's husband, Phil Martin:

I am sorry to inform you that my wife, Jean Lofing Martin BHS 65, passed away very peacefully on Saturday afternoon, March 19, 2022 (at age 74).  She was at our daughter's home in Sparks, NV.  She was not under a doctor's care for any reason, but told our daughter that she was a little tired that week.  Our daughter tried to get her to go to see a doctor but Jean declined.

Jean and I spent a lot of time going between Sun City, AZ (our retirement home since 2004) and Sparks, NV as we had a son, daughter and grandkids living in the Reno/Sparks/North Tahoe area since 2013.  Our youngest son lives in Big Sky, MT.  Jean and I had our 50th wedding anniversary celebration in Sparks in June 2021 (we were married in Burbank in 1971).

Jean had worked at Pacific Bell/AT&T for 30 years before her retirement.  We lived in Concord, CA (east of Oakland) where we raised our kids.  I was working in Oakland for 30 years and Jean worked in suburban AT&T locations.  We loved taking many getaway trips to Monterey/Carmel, the Napa/Sonoma wine country, Lake Tahoe, and all over northern California, and of course back to Disneyland many times.  We were also able to take numerous trips to Europe and Israel in 1985, 1989 and 2002-2007.

RIP Jean.
