We recently received information of the passing of Bruce Lynn Ludwig BHS 1958.
Bruce was born on October 26, 1940 and passed away on October 25, 2023. He was born in Lennox, South Dakota to Marguerite (Marge) and Lloyd (Jack) Ludwig. His family moved to Burbank the Summer before Bruce's Senior Year in High School.
Bruce graduated from Cal State University (CSUN) and began his career in institutional and fiduciary real estate. Bruce had a successful career in the financial, real estate and investment world. He was on the executive boards of many companies and even started his own companies.
His true passion was for bringing people together through philanthropy and his personal life. He spent much time in Kenya and Egypt. He led countless trips there for friends and was extremely invested in learning about the ancient history, cultures, conservation and environment there. He supported the Amboseli Trust for Elephants. He served on many trusteeships for a host of universities, institutes, societies, other trusts and foundations in these regions.
Bruce and his wife Carol, published 5 books about The Churches of Egypt, the History and Religious Heritage of old Cairo and the Child Jesus in Egypt.
In the last few years, Bruce's happiest place was in McCall, Idaho and again, he was very involved in supporting the arts, helping to develop the Pondersa Center and supporting St. Luke's Hospital.
He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Carolyn Wierman Ludwig (BHS '60), daughters Pamela Hearn, Charla Thompson, grandchildren Henry and Margaret Thompson and his brother Don Ludwig BHS 64 and sister-in-law Debbie Ludwig.
