Lyn Heim Beck, BHS '65 (1947-2021)
Chris Heim Teuber (BHS Class of 1968) just shared the sad news that sister, Lyn Heim Beck (BHS Class of 1965), "passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, October 24, 2021."
Classmate Trudie Lombard Hentze (BHS Class 1965) wrote, " I can tell you that Lyn was voted the Shyest girl for our Class of 1965. Everyone loved her and, in later years, lots of our '65 guys admitted to having a crush on her. So I know she will be remembered with sweet memories,"

Carol was preceded in death by her husband Ron Minnick, who passed away in 2011. Carol is survived by sons; Eric Cox and Richard Minnick; daughter, Pamela Peterson, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Tim Murphy, BHS '79 (1961-2021)
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Timothy Murphy who was born in Burbank, California, on June 15, 1961, and passed away on September 19, 2021, at the age of 60. He was loved and cherished by many people including his wife of 35 years and three children.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 6th 2021 at 9:00 AM at the Halley Olsen Murphy Funerals (44831 N Cedar Ave, Lancaster, CA 93534). A burial was held on Wednesday, October 6th 2021 at 1:15 PM at the Bakersfield National Cemetery (30338 E Bear Mountain Blvd, Arvin, CA 93203).

Richard Peterson, BHS '64 (1946-2021)
We are sorry to report the recent passing of Richard Peterson BHS '64. Richard was born on April 25, 1946 and passed away on July 29, 2021 in Henderson, Nevada, after battling several lengthy illnesses.
Richard grew up in Burbank, California. He played Football for Burbank High School and was a quarterback. Richard was also a United States Air Force Veteran.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Peterson and survived by his brother, John Peterson BHS '65 and sister-in-law, Marilyn Williams Peterson BHS '67, nieces and nephews.
Richard was one of the "Keystone Street Kids" and grew up with my husband, Jon Kirkwood. Jon has so many fun memories of childhood adventures that he shared with Richard. From playing baseball in the street to hiking the Verdugo Mountains just above where they lived. During their high school years and after, Richard and Jon worked together at Shopping Bag Market. Jon remembers that Richard was a good Big Brother to his younger brother, John. He always looked out for John.

Doug Garbers, BHS '72 (1954-2014)
Doug Garbers, BHS ’72, passed away on July 31, 2014 at his home in Lompoc, California, as the result of a residential fire. Doug grew up in Burbank at 937 Uclan Dr., with three older sisters, Jennifer BHS ’67, Sylvia BHS ’68, and Cheryl BHS ’70. Their dad, Art Garbers, was one of the original engineers for Disney, specializing in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC and ventalation. Doug attended Thomas Jefferson Elementary, John Muir Junior High, and Burbank High.
Doug’s mother, D’Anne (Doris Anne) Garbers, was the twin sister of Darrell Shaner who was the father of Stan Shaner BHS ’70, Anne Shaner Hansen BHS 71, and Jeanne Shaner BHS ’76. Both twins passed away in 2020 a few months apart at 99 years of age. Doug’s sister, Cheryl Garbers Henderson BHS ’70, passed away this year in 2021.
Doug Garbers is survived by his older sisters, Jennifer and Sylvia, and their families, and by Cheryl’s family, also. Doug’s dad, Art Garbers, passed away in 1999, his mother, D’Anne, passed away in 2020, and his sister, Cheryl in 2021.
Cheryl Garbers Henderson, BHS '70 (1952-2021)
We just learned at our Class of ’70 50+1 Reunion on October 3rd that Cheryl Garbers Henderson passed away a few months ago. She had had several health issues the last few years, including dealing with M.S.
Cheryl was the third of the four children of Art and D’Anne (Doris Anne) Garbers. While the kids were growing up the family lived at 937 Uclan Dr. in Burbank. Jennifer Garbers was BHS ’67, Sylvia Garbers was BHS ’68, Cheryl was BHS ’70, and Doug Garbers was BHS ’72. Art Garbers, was one of the original engineers for Disney, specializing in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC and ventalation. In the late ‘50s and half of the ‘60s the Garbers Family attended the First Baptist Church of Burbank at Glenoaks and Fairmount Rd. Cheryl went through school in Burbank at Thomas Jefferson Elementary, John Muir Junior High, and Burbank High. On January 27, 1973 Cheryl married Lyle Henderson. They had three children and several grandchildren. They lived for many years in Los Angeles, in Eagle Rock. They also had a home at Frazier Park, CA where they spent much of their time in recent years.
Cheryl’s mother, D’Anne (Doris Anne), was the twin sister of Darrell Shaner, father of Stan Shaner BHS ’70, Anne Shaner Hansen BHS ’71, and Jeanne Shaner BHS ’76. D’Anne Garbers passed away in mid-2020 at age 99, and her twin brother, Darrell Shaner, passed away a few months later on November 11, 2020 at age 99 ½.
Cheryl Garbers Henderson is survived by her husband, Lyle Henderson, her three children, several grandchildren, and by her older sisters, Jennifer and Sylvia, and their families. Cheryl’s father, Art Garbers, passed away in 1999, her mother, D’Anne, passed away in 2020, and her younger brother, Doug Garbers, passed away in 2014.

Rich Shabazian, BHS '64 (1946-2021)
Rich M. Shabazian, beloved husband, father and friend passed away at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Sept. 18, 2021.
Rich was born in Chicago, Ill., on July 24, 1946, to Albert K. and Agavnie M. (Berntsen) Shabazian. At an early age, the family moved to Southern California. In 1964, he graduated from Burbank High School and then enlisted in the United States Navy. During his service in the Navy he was written up in the Navy times for his heroic service as a Corpsman.
Rich married Charlene Rose on March 30, 1968, in the 1st Presbyterian Church in Burbank, Calif. After his discharge he opened his own service station in Burbank, Calif., for 10 years.
In 1979, he and his family moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Rich loved working on cars and after moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1980 he was fortunate enough to have been hired by Knudtsen Chevrolet as a mechanic and shop foreman until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Charlene; daughter Dena Penders of Denver, Colo.; grandsons Aidan and Julian Penders of Denver, Colo.; sisters Barbara Vosganian and Joyce Batenhorst. Rich is preceded in death by his parents; brother Albert Shabazian; sister Nancy Shabazian.
Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, 140 S Arthur St # 610, Spokane, Wash. 99202. A memorial service for Rich will be held at a later date English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, is in charge of the arrangements
