Jim McCauley, BHS '63, Passed Away April 23, 2017

James Robert "Jim" McCauley '63 passed away in Los Angeles on April 23, 2017. He was the oldest of the ten McCauley siblings, five boys and five girls. All of the boys inherited a kidney disease from their mother, and most of them had at least one kidney transplant. Now the four oldest brothers have all passed away, only the youngest brother survives, along with the five sisters surviving. Their mother passed away many years ago due to cancer, but their father, Jim McCauley, Sr., now 95, and his second wife live in Thousand Oaks. (Jim McCauley, Sr. is a retired FBI Special Agent.)

The McCauley family lived in Burbank in the 1950's and 1960's at the corner of Richard St. and Eton Dr. In 1966 they moved to Granada Hills, where the younger seven graduated from high school. The three oldest brothers graduated from BHS, Jim in '63, Tim in '64, and Tyler in '65. The fourth brother, Paul, would have graduated with the '67 class if they hadn't moved to Granada Hills.

Tim passed away first. Paul passed away on June 26, 2010. Tyler passed in 2013. Now Jim has passed away in 2017. James Robert McCauley was a graduate of UCLA, and was a Paulist Father.

Pam Herrick Neil, BHS '65, Passed Away April 24, 2017

RECEIVED THIS NOTICE TODAY...
It is with a heavy heart that I have to report the loss of another classmate. Pam Herrick Neil passed away this evening following a massive stroke on April 15th. Pam had been battling cancer for several years, but made an asserted effort to attend our 50th Reunion in 2015. She had been in remission, but knew it was her last chance to reconnect with her high school friends. I am happy to say, she had a wonderful weekend! Those who went to the reunion probably remember her beautiful daughter, Lori, who accompanied her.

In addition to Lori, Pam also is survived by her son, Chuck and sister, Sue Silver BHS '69. I will be happy to forward any messages to Sue, and will pass on any details about memorial services as soon as I hear from the family. Pam lived in the Reno area, so I am assuming services will be held in NV.

My best wishes to all,

Trudie Lombard Hentze

MAY 19, 2017 UPDATE
Steve Young, Susan's brother, posted this note on Facebook:
"My sister, Susan Young George, died in March of this year. She was a BHS grad, class of 71. She had contracted pancreatic cancer that was undetected until weeks before her death. She died peacefully after being removed from life support. In many ways, it was a blessing that she did not suffer the long agony of a dying cancer patient."

We are truly sorry for your loss, Steve. May God bless you and your family.

From Trudie Lombard Hentze:
I'm so sorry to report that we've lost another classmate. Theresa Whalen Draper passed away this morning following a stroke in March. I don't have any other details at this time, but if I find out about any services, I will let you know.

Theresa was a popular hair stylist in Burbank for many years and I know some of you were her clients. She had suffered from MS for many years, but the last time I saw her, after our 50-year Reunion, she looked fantastic. I gave her a memory book from the reunion and we had a great time reminiscing. I'm so glad we had that time together.

Alan Landros wrote the following obituary

JANIS CHRISTINE MUSSON JARDINE
JUNE 3, 1952 ~ April 13, 2017

Janis passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017, about seven weeks before her 65th birthday.  Many of you have seen the notice on Facebook from Karla Musson Alltizer, sister of Janis, saying that Janis passed away due to Alzheimer’s Disease.  Her illness progressed rather quickly within the past three years.  Some of our BHS ‘70 classmates don’t use Facebook, and some others who have a Facebook page rarely check it,
so this notice is being sent to everyone from our class for notification of this sad news.

Janis was the youngest of the four Musson sisters, Sharon, Karla, Kathy, and Janis.  They grew up at 1907 N. Kenneth Rd., near Eton Dr., in Burbank.
Janis attended Thomas Jefferson Elementary, John Muir Junior High, and Burbank High, graduating with us in 1970.
She and I were in the same 5th grade class at Jefferson with our teacher, Betty Ohs Steinkolk.  Some of the others in that class with us were
Carol Wallace, Ellen Gelbard, Joyce Starleaf, Krenn Wilkinson, Mary Pilkinton, Bill Wallace, Blyden Loutensock, Don McMickle, Mike Zeff, and Stan Shaner.

Janis married Scott Jardine in the 1970’s.  They attended our 10 year class reunion in 1980.  They have two sons, Bryan born in 1982, and his younger brother born in 1984.  Over the years Janis and Scott have lived in many locations, due to Scott’s career.  They began married life in Burbank, lived in Brea, then Oregon, back to northern California for many years, then Midland, Texas, and finally the last few years they have lived in Boise, Idaho.
Janis always loved to play tennis frequently wherever she lived.

Janis is survived by her husband, two sons, sisters, Karla Musson Alltizer and Kathy Musson Bice (who is from the BHS ‘68 class), and their families.
She is predeceased by her parents, and her oldest sister, Sharon.
