'64 Ceralbus Pics in the Museum of the San Fernanod Valley

Came upon this post from the Museum of the San Fernando Valley!

BURBANK HIGH SCHOOL 1964 - CATHY FERGUSON OLYMPIAN

DISCOVERING OUR VALLEY 2011

Once again the alertness of The Museum Community has added another part of the endlessly interesting picture that is San Fernando Valley history. This time it comes from a 1964 Burbank High School "Ceralbus" yearbook on its way to a thrift shop. Here are two great photos from the yearbook. I hope you will agree that they are more than worth saving. Jerry

Cathy Ferguson at Burbank High School in 1964. Cathy had just achieved a new world record in the 200 meter backstroke and was preparing for the 1964 Olympic Games. The summer came and Cathy won two gold medals in the Tokyo Games; one in the 200 meter backstroke and another as part of the 100 meter relay. (click on this image to enlarge)

Burbank High School boys, Tom Bradstock and Bob Steele look for their scores. They came in first and second. A new swimming pool at the Burbank YMCA (today the Y) caused an explosion of interest in swimming by school kids in the mid 1960s.

BHS Hi-Life Newspapers 1964-1967

Paul Dean Fitzgerald, BHS '67, has uploaded several issues of Burbank High's Hi-Life newspaper for us all to enjoy.

Here is the link and below is her email:

Thanks so much, Paula!!!

OK - I uploaded all of what I have for 1964. I'm still back and forth about whether this is the best way to create an archive - I'd so much rather have them as multi-page .pdf files.

But why don't we go public with a link to what I have so far. Maybe someone has a better idea of how to make this archive more user friendly. Even better, maybe some folks have more issues of the newspaper - I'd be happy to scan them and make them available to all. I've got most, but not all, of the issues from our high school years - fall 1964 to spring 1967. It would be great to add other years.

I can be reached, as you know, at paulamdfitzgerald@yahoo.com.

Snail mail, in case anyone has another cache of the newspapers for me to scan is:
