Going thru the stack-of-mail I opened the Senior (Burbank HS) Bulldogs Newsletter and learned that another ol' compadre had died: Dave Rugee, Class of '66. He left us on July 5th (the middle day of 3-days that "Safety Dude" was between fire assignments). Dave was a baseball mate & friend. After high school the next time I saw him was aboard the USS Oriskany (CVA-34) on Yankee Station off the coast of Vietnam in '69. Decades passed, but we caught up one evening a few years back in Gilbert, AZ where he'd been living (as have my mom & sisters [a regular Bulldog beehive]). He pointed out it'd been "a longggggg time since our Zuma Beach trips..." Yep, and I'll always remember him playing at, or rounding, "the hot corner" (3rd base): You're home now amigo... Phillip A.
